Praying while traveling (qasr)
Praying while traveling (qasr). Qasr (shortening of prayer) is the form of shalat that a traveller performs while on a lawful journey. The traveller has been enjoined to shorten all the obligatory prayers that have four (4) Raka'ats to two (2) Raka'ats.
These prayers are Zuhr, Asr and isha'i excluding Subhi and Maghreb prayers. (any traveling that is above 3 miles to nine miles Qasr is mandatory upon the traveller) The Sunnah of solaat while traveling is that, as long as you will return home then you should pray taqseer (shorten your solaat).
if you travel to any place for business or visit or treatment, you can pray qasr (shorten your solaat). for as long as you stay there. when you travel to Hajj, you pray qasr (shorten your solaat). until you return home when on a business trip to any place you can pray qasr throughout your stay...
And there is no harm if you complete your solaat after three days of arrival. Or when ever you wish.
Allaah (Swt) says in the Glorious Quran:
"And when you (Muslims) travel in the land, there is no sin on you if you shorten your Solaat (prayer) if you fear that the disbelievers may attack you, verily, the disbelievers are ever unto you open enemies." [Al-Quran- Suratun Nissa :101]
